Huntington Ingalls Industries is the principal U.S. military shipbuilder, constructing nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and, with one peer, nuclear submarines for the Navy. Its Newport News and Ingalls yards also build surface combatants, amphibious ships and perform complex overhauls. Nearly all demand comes from long-cycle U.S. defense contracts rather than commercial shipping.
