Valhi is a holding company whose main economic engine is majority control of Kronos Worldwide, a global producer of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) pigments used in coatings, plastics and other industrial products. Through related subsidiaries it also owns CompX, which makes security products and engineered components, and holds interests in NL Industries plus real-estate management and development assets. The group thus combines bulk specialty chemicals with niche manufacturing and property activities.
