About MDAX
The MDAX is the tier directly beneath Germany's headline index: mid-sized companies that qualify on size and turnover but sit outside the senior bracket, with promotion and relegation between the two running on a published rulebook. That makes it about the closest thing Europe has to a listed Mittelstand — speciality chemicals, machine building, packaging, airports, logistics and industrial suppliers, much of it family-influenced and export-driven. Membership turns over more often than the senior index, so this hub follows the current constituents rather than a frozen list. German Prime Standard rules require quarterly statements, so revenue and earnings are shown per quarter. Trading is on Xetra, in euros.
